"Embroidering" With a Regular Sewing Machine

So, I decided to try something new with the pillows.  Heat transferring onto them is time consuming because I have to cut out each letter to keep the blank part of the paper from discoloring the fabric.

I decided to try free handing onto the fabric and then sewing over it with thread.  It's that simple.  It's still pretty time consuming, but I really like how it looks.  And it's kind of fun.
